Ski Travel
Ski Travel has operated high school and college ski/snowboard trips to Canada for over 30 years. Presently, Ski Travel takes students from over 100 high schools in the Washington DC metro area and over 400 colleges all over the eastern part of the United States. Over 100,000 students have attended our trips since 1981.
Priding itself as more than a tour company, Ski Travel Unlimited provides its guests with a full event schedule, and our trained staff attends the trips, to ensure the quality and logistical excellence of everything it hosts. The meticulous planning and care put into its trips each year continue to make Ski Travel Unlimited the #1 student ski tour operator to Canada on the East Coast.
Recruiting a quality staff is the backbone of Ski Travel's success. As next ski / snowboard season approaches, Ski Travel is reaching out to college students and recent grads who are seeking internships and majoring in Tourism and Events Management, Marketing, Business, Public Relations etc. Students from dozens of colleges and universities have been working for Ski Travel since its inception, and have been the forerunners of an incredible opportunity to gain valuable experience in every single aspect of event management from start to finish.
Fairfax Surf Shop
Fairfax Surf Shop is our retail store. Since1976 Fairfax Surf Shop has been the core Skate-Surf-Snow shop in Northern Virginia. We are oldest Skate, Surf and Snowboard shop in the Washington area. Our SkateTeam is well know in the area as well. The team competes, demos for schools and local charity events including our SkateFest for Children's Hospital National Medical Center.

Fall/ Winter Internship Program: Sept/Oct- Jan
INTERNSHIP DESCRIPTION
The intern will gain valuable insight and experience in event planning and travel coordination for upcoming ski and snowboarding season. They will also assist on trip organization, production, and overall logistics of travel and events. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to drafting of press releases, scheduling of events, contacting and dealing with reps, and promotions.
The work environment will be fun and casual, but also challenging and full of learning opportunities. The ideal candidate must be comfortable in dealing with students over the phone and have excellent people skills. Potential candidates must have the ability to work independently or in a team environment to help achieve the overall goals of the company.
EXPERIENCE GAINED
Our interns will be trained and given opportunities to implement their skills into the following fields:
- Marketing/ Public Relations
- Social Media for a Business
- Working directly with Various Media Outlets
- Guerilla Marketing Tactics
- Plan, Manage, and Attend major events
- Drafting Press Releases
- Scheduling
- Destination Activity Schedule
- Coordinating with the venues, resorts etc
- Reservation Processing
- Dinner Meetings with Student Reps
- Reps recruit other students for the trips
- Maintaining Contact with Various Student Reps
- Rooming Lists for High School & College
- Bus Routes & Pick-up/Drop Off Times
- Ensure Logistical Excellence
- Attending the Trips
- Rooming lists, signage at event, lift tickets, room keys, etc.
- Guest Management
- Attend to Guest Needs
- Event Planning and Management
- Manage & Host Various Events at Resort
- Manage Checkout & Departure
This internship opportunity is extremely flexible in regards to the work schedule. We understand and respect student's time and importance of classes. The ski trips in the winter are provided at no cost to interns and trip dates are scheduled during winter breaks.
