Urgent message from the director of ski travel
RE: Extending the LOCO Ski trip for the safety of the students
Dear Students and Parents,
Over the past several days, we have been closely monitoring weather forecasts and reviewing advisories from the Departments of Transportation in all states involved in our return trip home. Unfortunately, the forecasts have not improved. Current advisories continue to indicate heavy snow along our I-87 route through northern New York, as well as very difficult driving conditions farther south toward Loudoun County.
Today, I spent several hours working directly with our bus company, Gunther Charters, and meeting with the management team at the Château Frontenac. After careful consideration and consultation, we are all in agreement that the safety of our students must remain our highest priority.
As a result, we have made the decision to extend our stay at the hotel and delay our return until Monday.
Both Gunther Charters and the Château Frontenac have worked with us to keep the cost of this extension as low as possible. That said, extending the trip involves many people and resources — including bus drivers, hotel staff, and Ski Travel staff — and does result in significant additional expense.
As many of you know, Ski Travel is a family-operated business established in 1981, and several of my own children work alongside me on these trips. Absorbing the full cost of an additional night and costs associated with transportation is a substantial challenge for our company.
For that reason, we are respectfully requesting a fee of $87 per student to help offset the cost of the additional hotel night and related expenses. I have done my best to keep the expense as minimal as possible for you.
We do need to finalize arrangements with the hotel as soon as possible. I want to especially note that the staff of the Château Frontenac has gone above and beyond for our group, including relocating other scheduled guests so that our students may remain in their current rooms without disruption.
Updated Departure Plan

Dan Callahan
